Many people actually do not know that windown placement can make a big difference in your electricity savings. If you make sure that your windows are sealed up the way that they should, or you just replace them instead, you will be able to keep your home warm enough. You would not have to kick your heat up too high because it will already be warm enough in your home. Drafts that come through the windows make it a lot cooler in your home. As a result many people end up kicking their electricity up a little bit higher, and then they end up suffering from high energy bills. If you just do the smart thing and replace your windows, then you will definitely find that you are saving money big time. There are many things that you can do inside of your home so that you can benefit from these huge savings. You should really do yourself a favor and invest into window placement. You can hire someone to come out and do the windows, or if you have the knowledge, you can replace them yourself. You will end up saving money that way as well in no time.

In this economy everyone is looking for ways to save money on their energy bills, sealing drafts is why caulking around windows is a great investment. An amazing amount of cold air can come through a drafty window, making your furnace work harder and longer. For very little money, you can caulk all the windows in your house to seal drafts. There are a great many types of caulks on the market to fit your needs. A great caulk is a seasonal type that can easily be removed at the end of the seasons when you no longer need to seal drafts. This type of caulk typically know as a seal and peel caulk, provides a good tight seal against drafts, is waterproof and is fast drying. This caulk can be used inside and out, and will adhere to glass, ceramics, aluminum, wood, fiberglass, drywall, concrete, vinyl, and any painted surface. This caulk peels easily off these surfaces at the end of the season and will not damage painted surfaces. The caulk is also clear so it won’t be seen on your windows. A great investment with very little money spent is essential for making your home warmer in the winter while saving money on your energy bill.

Many home owners are looking for ways to reduce their home’s heating and cooling costs. By taking a few simple, proactive steps, home owners will be able to enjoy their home at a comfortable temperature in any season.

Valuable, and often costly, energy is released into the outside air by outdated windows. Home owners who would like to save money on heating and cooling costs can save considerably by replacing existing windows with energy efficient windows. Features to look for are quality frame materials, double paned glass, gas fills and warm edge spacers.

Install a programmable thermostat in your home for additional savings. This will ensure that the home is heated and cooled to a lesser extent when the home owner is out of the home. There is no need to have the air conditioner run all day in the Summer if no one is home to enjoy it. Program the thermostat to keep the home at a comfortable temperature and save money at the same time.

While the expenses associated with home ownership are great, the costs for heating and cooling the home do not have to be exorbitant. By employing these simple steps, home owners will be able to enjoy their home’s efficiency and cost effectiveness.

Saving energy at your home or business is a great idea – and it’s good karma, too! But you may be confused with all the mixed messages out there about what really works and what’s just a waste of timelet us fill you in on the best ways to cut back.
Switch energy providers: Did you know that many energy providers across the country have green initiatives they’re utilizing to ensure they’ve got the best practices out there? Companies like Ambit Energy Texas are making strides and you should do your research.
Make some changes: We’re not talking about turning off the water when you brush, we’re talking about things like changing all your bulbs to eco-friendly ones and investing in a tankless hot water heater. These big changes cost more upfront but they’re what really cuts down on your energy usage.
Work with the community: Outside of your own home or business you can work in the community to get everyone behind the cause. Sponsor a community garden or solar powered initiatives and feel the good vibes roll in.

Your carbon footprint is a combination of the greenhouse gasses released in the environment caused by you and the actions that you do. Everything from the amount of land you have, how often you drive, what you buy and more can have an impact on the size of your carbon footprint. There is a mathematical equation for how much carbon dioxide each action we take leads to. Most carbon dioxide is produced by the use of fossil fuels and waste products such as solid waste, and waste from wood products. The Environmental Protection Agency has now made plans to try to lower greenhouse gasses that are released into the air
All of these greenhouse gas emissions lead to climate change raising the temperature on the earth and cutting through the atmosphere. So lowering your carbon footprint helps reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into the air. There are many simple things you can do to help reduce your carbon footprint. Many of the things that you do to reduce your carbon footprint will also save you money, so you will be helping save the environment and adding to your bank account. So remember to do things such as lower the temperature of your thermostat during the winter and carpool or bike to work.

1. Always turn off lights as you leave a room. Teach your children to do the same.

2. Switch to fluorescent light bulbs. They use 15 watts per bulb, compared to the 60-100 watts of standard bulbs.

3. If you need to run a pool filter, only run it for two hours at a time.

4. Use the shortest cycle on your dishwasher, unless the dishes are extremely dirty.

5. For laundry chores, use a speed wash cycle for your towels and sheets and any other light use items.

6. Turn off your computer when not in use.

7. Set the sleep timer on your bedroom television so you don’t wind up leaving it on all night.

8. Use your grill more during the warmer months, especially if you have an electric stove.

9. Try and turn your air conditioning down at night. Perhaps use a fan on low if you need to for your bedroom.

10. Turn off anything electrical if it is not essential; unplug your digital coffee maker and microwave as they do use electricity even when not in use.The hits keep comin’: L.E.D.

The Energy Star Program is an incentive plan, which is offered by the company General Electric (GE), to consumers who are deciding to “go green” in thier homes, and who have purchased energy efficient technologies in their homes. Energy Star sells products from refrigerators, to dishwashers, and washer and dryer sets in the home for everyday consumer use. The products are energy efficient, and use less electricity than older appliances in the home. The purpose of these products is to save both you, the consumer, more money on your electric bills, and to save the environment, through the use of green technology, and offering more energy efficient technologies in the household.

GE was the first company to introduce energy efficient products in the market, and now other companies are joining the trend. Not only do consumers save on their electric bills by using Energy Star appliances in their homes; but, there are also many government tax incentives for consumers who “go green” especially on larger appliance purchases (which are a little more expensive in the market), such as refrigerators and in home washer and dryer units.

Energy Star helps consumers save money on bills, get tax breaks, and helps save the environment with energy efficient products.

Motion sensors are not only great to save power for businesses, but for individuals in a home as well. Motion sensor products are a great option for things such as electronics which are used more than once during the day, but for products which you don’t want to leave turned on the entire day.

Motion sensors allow for a business (or home users) to have products, especially electronics, in the office use and to save both on electricity charges, and to save the company money in the long run. Motion sensors work similarly to setting your computer to the sleep mode. However, the motion sensor will turn the electronic device automatically whenever a user walks by it; as opposed to putting a computer to sleep mode, which the user actually has to press the power button to turn the computer back on.

The motion sensor will save power basically because when the product is in “sleep” mode, it is not using any electircal sources. The electricity usage will only kick in once the user of that product is actually using the product. Motion sensors are both environmentally friendly, and can save companies money on electricity bills over the long course of thier business.
