Overview
of the Market
Large consumers of natural gas in B.C. have had a choice of natural
gas suppliers since 1986. In 2004, Terasen extended this option
to all commercial customers on its Mainland supply network through
the "Commercial Unbundling Program".
As of May 1, 2007 residential customers on
Terasen’s Mainland supply network now have the option
to choose a natural gas supplier other than Terasen under the
CUSTOMER CHOICE initiative.
Consumers in British Columbia now pay over 300%
more for natural gas than they did 10 years ago* and prices have
the potential to increase significantly in the future. The graph
below illustrates the trend for natural gas prices in B.C. over
the last ten years.
If prices continue to trend upward at the same
pace, five years from now B.C. consumers will be paying approximately
$14.00/GJ for their natural gas. This is where CEG Energy can
help. By locking in your gas price with CEG, you will be insulated
from rising gas prices and will enjoy the potential for significant
cost savings.
