The Energy Star Program is an incentive plan, which is offered by the company General Electric (GE), to consumers who are deciding to “go green” in thier homes, and who have purchased energy efficient technologies in their homes. Energy Star sells products from refrigerators, to dishwashers, and washer and dryer sets in the home for everyday consumer use. The products are energy efficient, and use less electricity than older appliances in the home. The purpose of these products is to save both you, the consumer, more money on your electric bills, and to save the environment, through the use of green technology, and offering more energy efficient technologies in the household.

GE was the first company to introduce energy efficient products in the market, and now other companies are joining the trend. Not only do consumers save on their electric bills by using Energy Star appliances in their homes; but, there are also many government tax incentives for consumers who “go green” especially on larger appliance purchases (which are a little more expensive in the market), such as refrigerators and in home washer and dryer units.

Energy Star helps consumers save money on bills, get tax breaks, and helps save the environment with energy efficient products.
